The first Mercury retrograde of 2022 begins in Aquarius on Friday, January 14. Then the planet moves into Capricorn Tuesday 25th March 2020 when it will be direct again for a short time before going back into its own circuit around our Sun- Banner! Mercury’s dance through Aquarius this time around officially begins on Friday, January 14 at 16°58′ Aquarius. It will move into Capricorn on Tuesday, January 25 at 9°01′ Capricorn. That means the first few days are happening during the day for North America but will take place overnight for Europe, Africa, Asia, and pretty much everywhere else. (Yes, Mercury is more powerful over the people on the other side of the world than it is for you.)
Mercury will be retrograde for about three weeks—from January 14 through January 29—and then spend some time traveling direct (during which no more problems should occur) before turning around and going into retrograde again (yes, again!) on February 3 at 22° Aquarius. To put this in perspective, Mercury will only spend two weeks of its entire cycle moving forward. It’s very odd! According to astrologer Lisa Stardust, “Mercury is about getting our mental energy flowing so that we can communicate clearly.” So when Mercury is retrograde, she says, “We need to slow down and take our time to process all the messages that are flying around.”
